We can't be certain on what day back in 1886 George DeArment loaded up his wagon with hand-crafted tools that he had made and set out from Evansburg, PA, to sell his wares. Likely, it was in the spring, after the muddy roads had hardened enough to allow a heavily laden wagon to pass.
But this we do know: what George DeArment put in motion that unnamed first day has not only lasted but prospered in the 127 years that have followed. Through five generations, we owe our success in no small measure to the guiding principles that George would later pen and put into practice:
1. Good management is never far from the factory floor.
2.People count more than machines.
3. Bigger does not always mean better.
4. Dedication to excellence is the surest way to surmount adversity and to prosper.
